Could Counselling and Psychotherapy Help Me?

Most people go through times in their lives that are painful and distressing, or have an addiction where they find it difficult to control certain behaviours leading to harmful consequences, or when they have difficult decisions to make. Sometimes memories from the past present anxiety about the future which can make it difficult to cope with everyday life. Maybe you are repeating the same patterns of behaviour and thoughts. I am a trained and experienced counsellor, psychotherapist and Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT), who will hear what you say and understand how you feel, without judging you.

Counselling, psychotherapy and CBT can help you understand the process in which you may have become stuck in, helping you understand how your current behaviour, anxiety, addiction or depression could be linked to past experiences.

The sessions provide a therapeutic space to explore these past experiences and emotions, making sense of your anxiety, addictions, depression, bereavement, anger, self-harm, abuse and difficulties. This understanding can enable you to become connected to your inner resources promoting personal growth, healing and direction in life with the help of your counsellor.

What Happens In Counselling?

The sessions are either on an individual basis or for couples, and we meet on a weekly basis. In counselling, you will not be expected to answer loads of questions or talk continuously. My space allows you the time to talk about what is important to you in the time that it takes in the session. It gives you the space to express your feelings without any pressure.

I offer a number of different approaches in counselling, psychotherapy, relationship and couples counselling. These include psychoanalytical therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), cognitive analytic therapy, person-centred therapy, existential therapy and inner-child work.

Counselling, psychotherapy and CBT takes account of the multi-cultural enviroment in which we live and the impact this may have on our presenting problem. This includes an awareness of cultural influences such as age, development, disability, religion, sexual orientation, indigenous identity, nationality and gender.

    How long does counselling last?

Counselling can be short or long term. However, as endings are an important part of therapy, the timing for this would need to be discussed in advance with your therapist.

I offer Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) where we can look at your thoughts, emotions, physical feelings and behaviour. You can learn how one links to the other and various coping mechanisms.

    Fees

The fees are 45 per counselling or Skype session. This will be discussed in your first session.
